About the Photographers

Patrick Hinely '73
Patrick Hinely is a 1973 Journalism graduate of W&L and has been a University Photographer since 1980. He strives to do work both creative and documentary at once, hoping it can be as honest and nice as the W&L Calendar. Aside from his work for W&L, Hinely has shot more than 100 album covers for artists including Keith Jarrett and Robin and Linda Williams.

"Along with working as a university photographer for both Washington and Lee University and The Virginia Military Institute I like to consider myself a professional people watcher. My greatest joy comes from capturing people doing what they love and spending time with the ones they love. My approach is quiet, respectful and unobtrusive, with the mission of telling a story through artistic, documentary photographs."
